A helicopter arrives early and wakes us up. Others have left already from the dormitory. Clear and cold. We have breakfast outside with stunning views of the mountains being slowly irradiated by the rising sun. We talk with the Slovenian girl we met last night and a young german couple. We are in no hurry today and are pretty much the last to pay and leave at 9:00. Beautiful and sunny. Today's walk takes us through the valley of the 7 lakes, placid and emerald in the early morning light, the limestone refulgent in the sunlight. After a little while we reach the tree line; dwarf pine and larch. There are large areas of flat white limestone pavement, where we hear and then see some marmots. High up on the scree slope are some chamois.
After a few hours of walking we arrive at the hut and have a hearty bowl of macaroni and ragout. A local Slovenian lady gives us some powerful schnapps! We then check into our private room with a view of the nearby lake which we walk to and even have a wash in! First wash since leaving Bohinj! After that we play travel scrabble downstairs and talk to an English couple from Cornwall! Supper is a wholesome mixture of sauerkraut stew with sausages, bread and 1/2 litre of red wine.
