Up at 7 and the weather looks promising. Lake Bohinj below swathed in cloud. We order some sandwiches at the hut as our trekking day is quite long and there are no huts on the way. We're on the trail by 8:15, followed for about an hour by the local cat! It turns back as we walk through a meadow of cows and then make the ascent to Sekrbina at 1,910 meters. It's a long upward trudge through limestone scree and boulders. There's a snow filled hollow like a small lake below us. We pause at the top ("Vrh" means "summit") to eat some chocolate and take in the views. The descent on the other side is treacherous with loose limestone scree slipping on the steep incline. We get back into dwarf pine and mountain ash, now showing some autumnal colour, and eat our sandwich peering up at the track we will probably take tomorrow towards Vogel. Eventually we reach Planini Razor hut nestled amongst beech trees. It's not too busy. We have some "black"wine outside and when the sun dips beneath the mountains and it gets too cold we retreat inside. We have spaghetti and ragout for supper. We are still rather hungry though and so we order a bowl of sauerkraut soup as well. Bed at 9:00 pm.
