Friday 7 September: to Dom na Komni
Another prompt start as we have to leave our rooms by 8.00am. A pleasant start: the winding track meanders through pine forests and occasional open meadow areas. We eat wild raspberries and enjoy glimpses of the mountain ranges beyond. We stop for coffee and delicious apple strudel at Koca Dom Bogatinom (the site of a 1st WW Hospital) where we can even wash our hands in hot water. We take a circular detour passed the ruins of some war barracks before climbing back up to Dom na Komni, our home for the night. Perched high on up with views of Lake Bohinj below we enjoy lunch of beef stew with dumplings and buckwheat mush- a local specialty. Still no showers but a cold water strip wash and attempt to wash my hair. Reading and blogging follows before supper and another early night.
